1) What has been recently completed
Christa - Brainstormed other games that are similar to the theme we wanted based on our first impression. Found some images that helped support our game aesthetic.
Hannah - Brainstormed more ideas for games we could make, and helped decide on a final concept for our game. Found some images that supported our game aesthetic.
Jacob - Brainstormed many ideas for games we could make and helped decide on the final concept. Found some images that supported our game aesthetic.
We now have a clear idea of the project we are making. We drew up some rough mock ups of our "screen" as well as came up with obstacles/a point system. These will later be turned into our official paper prototype.
2) What each person is currently working on
Christa - Create some of the paper objects. Figure out the flow of the game.
Jacob - Create some of the paper objects. Find some music ideas for the game.
Hannah - Work on the screens for the paper prototype (essentially the background for each screen).
3) What features/ideas or on the backlog are to be done next
-Finish the paper prototype - lock onto the flow of the game and what would make people wanna play it.
-Think more thoroughly about our game mechanics and think of how other rhythm-based games look and feel.
-Start deciding how we want the game to look in Unity
4) Analysis of playtesting (probably as a separate page)
N/A
5) Obstacles that are blocking development
We are struggling with deciding on exactly the type of rhythm based game we want, and how we want the player to be able to move. Right now we are considering the player dodging obstacles that appear to a beat, but we are unsure of how much space the player should have to move in, and what would make a game like that stand out.
6) Reflection on game and process. What is working, what is not working. This represents your work-in-progress
What's working - we all seem to enjoy the look and feel of our game and we are excited to start making it.
What's not working - We are debating about having timed levels or a point based level system. We are also unsure of how to make our game really stand out and exactly what mechanics we would like to implement.
